My Beautiful Parents

Bev and Joel before my time

My father died when I was five years old and my mother died earlier this month when I was 32.5 years old. They were beautiful people inside and out. I love this picture and I have several more from the same day that have not yet been digitized.

I am lucky to have a sister that can relate to all the emotions and strange anxieties that go along with losing our father when we were so young and now losing our mother also before her time. I am also fortunate to have a wonderful step father who loved my mother dearly and missses her intensely. I know that he will be there for me for the rest of his life.

I am so glad to have a wonderful husband of my own and four awesome kids. I hope I am around for them for a long time to come.

GAAAH! Your mother is gorgeous! This is an amazing photo from the oxford shoes your mom was rocking to your dad's Harry Potter-like scarf. So glad you shared this, and so glad you have your sister, dad, and hubby. I can't imagine your grief right now. Thanks for sharing, sweet friend.

I also love this couple. they were the coolest couple from the day they met to the day they died. both lived too short a life. i learned alot from them over the years and will miss the advice and support i gained from both of them. but i still feel the love and always will ,as will you. and i know i can always go to them as i need, and so can you. we will never be lonely when we think of them. i love you both, aunt cindy

My favorite picture of two of my favorite people; my brother and my sister-in-law. It was the early 70's, but their look is timeless. Their love is timeless. They were wonderful parents who raised two beautiful daughters. First Joel, then Bev left us much too soon. But, we're all better for having had them in our lives. I'll always remember them with a smile.
As a matter of fact, right now I'm listening to Van Morrison, thinking of them, and smiling.

Cara, I thought this prayer might be something for you to use as you ponder the loss of your Mom. Jamie found it in a magazine article and we try to say it every night.

"The Light of God surrounds me. The Love of God enfolds me. The Power of God protects me. The Presence of God watches over me. Wherever I am, God is."
