Air Oxidation of Fluorene to 9-Fluorenone Reaction Mechanism
Friday, July 16, 2010 at 3:22PM Here's the mechanism I came up with for the Air Oxidation of Fluorene to 9-Fluorenone based mostly on what my TA drew in lab. It might not be entirely accurate. I don't have equation writing software. I've been told Dia works but I haven't explored it yet. ChemDraw has accepted me as a Beta tester which I'm very excited about so I should be using the next beta version when it's released. I'm good at finding software bugs and now I'll be able to do something about it. This reaction mechanism was drawn using ACE which is our homework software for lecture. It's designed to be used to answer the question asked but it has a save image as option so you can export whatever you've drawn. It also allows you to practice problems that have already been solved which keeps me from accidentally submitting something totally random.
FYI: 9-Fluorenone is used to make antimalaria drugs.
